NBA Playoffs Betting Report: May 5, The opening round of this year’s NBA Playoffs pretty much went chalk with three of the top four seeds from both the Eastern and Western Conference advancing to the next round. The favorites went 29-12 straight-up in that round, while the underdogs had the slight 24-17 edge against the spread.

Through Monday night’s action, Game 1 of the conference semifinals has been a bit of a different story with the underdog winning three of the four series openers both SU and ATS. The red-hot Washington Wizards got things started as the No. 5 seed in the East with a 104-98 upset of top-seeded Atlanta as 8.5-point road underdogs on 5Dimes’ closing NBA betting odds. The Wizards are now a perfect 5-0 in the postseason both SU and ATS.

The top seed in the West is the Golden State Warriors and they remained perfect in the playoffs at 5-0 SU with a 101-86 victory over No. 5 Memphis as 9.5-point home favorites in Sunday’s best-of-seven series opener. The Warriors’ current SU winning streak now stands at nine games, but during this run they are just 3-6 ATS.

The other two conference semifinal series started on Monday night and the No. 3 Chicago Bulls served notice that they are a legitimate contender in the East with a 99-92 upset of No. 2 Cleveland as 6.5-point road underdogs. The Cavaliers already lost Kevin Love for the remainder of the playoffs and JR Smith will have to also sit out Game 2 as part of an NBA suspension.

The No. 3 Los Angeles Clippers showed no signs of fatigue from there thrilling Game 7 victory against San Antonio this past Saturday with a solid 117-101 thrashing of No. 2 Houston in Game 1 of this series. The Clippers closed as 7.5-point road NBA Sportsbooks underdogs in that game.

As far as 5Dimes NBA futures to win both the conference title and the NBA Championship, both Cleveland in the East and Golden State in the West remain the clear favorites to meet in the NBA Finals with the Warriors listed as slight favorites in that potential matchup. The Wizards come into Tuesday’s Game 2 as six-point road underdogs against the Hawks and Memphis is listed as a 10.5-point road online basketball betting underdog for Game 2 against the Warriors.

The Cavaliers have already been opened as six-point home favorites for Wednesday’s Game 2 against Chicago while Game 2 between Los Angeles and Houston is still “off the board”. Top
