Basketball Betting - Shakedown From the NBA Draft

The way most VietBet customers look at it, the NBA Draft doesn’t make a whole lot of difference when it comes to impacting the upcoming NBA season, unless it involves a player who will be a game-changer immediately, or a very good team that gets a high draft pick.

What generally makes a difference when it comes to basketball betting are the trades that take place on or around draft day. And this year there were a few that could certainly give some teams a better chance to compete at the elite level.

If you want to talk about bold moves, it would be pretty hard to beat the Brooklyn Nets, who made it to the playoffs last year but were knocked out in very disappointing fashion by the Chicago Bulls despite having a home court advantage and blowing out Chicago in Game 1 of their series. The knock on the Nets (at least from some VietBet players who were frustrated with their effort) was that they didn’t have enough “heart” or veteran leadership, and so they went out and got some players who are veterans, to say the least, a couple of whom are wearing championship rings.

From the Boston Celtics came the remaining members of the “Big Three” they put together before the 2007-08 season – Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce – along with former Sixth Man of the Year Jason Terry, all of whom are 35 or older, in exchange for first-round picks in 2014, 2016, and 2018, along with Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Kris Joseph, MarShon Brooks, and Keith Bogans..

At first glance, it looks as if the Nets may be mortgaging their future, but they are hoping those draft choices aren’t going to be lottery picks, obviously. And owner Mikhail Prokhorov has said he is firmly committed to winning now. This demonstrates that. The only player Brooklyn gives up who was really critical to its rotation is the versatile Wallace, who will fit right in with the Celtics. The Nets now put together a lineup of Brook Lopez, Garnett, Pierce, Joe Johnson and Deron Williams, and that should be formidable; enough so that the Nets are on the short list of favorites in the basketball betting futures at VietBet, clocking in at +1450.
Kris Humphries, who is Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband, could have been considered expendable, considering that the Nets can bring the capable Andray Blatche off the bench at that position, and have Reggie Evans, who was originally included in the Boston trade but then taken out, as well. Mason Plumlee was a first-round draft choice, so you might say that Brooklyn is well-stocked up front.
Meanwhile, Boston appears to be doing a house cleaning. They let Doc Rivers go for a couple of draft choices and are reportedly looking to shop Humphries and Wallace in trades. It looks like the “Three-Year Plan” could be in effect for this franchise, which is going to fiddle around with the cap numbers and see what it can do to improve its lot for the future. Boston may or may not shape up to be a playoff team, and that is reflected in the numbers, which show that they are +8000 at VietBet to win the NBA title.

One must think that Celtics’ general manager Danny Ainge, who got five seasons out of his Hall of Fame trio of Garnett, Pierce and Ray Allen, could catch lightning in a bottle once again, but the prospects for something like that happening are somewhat dim.
