Right now the Portland Trail Blazers are feeling pretty good about themselves, because after quite a struggle, they have caught up to the pack in the Western Conference, in a sense. Their victory on Tuesday night over the Denver Nuggets has placed them into the #8 position in the conference, which would put them into the playoffs. And now they have to make sure they don’t lose that position of the final eight games of the season. On Thursday night, the Blazers will play host to the Houston Rockets in what should be an explosive NBA game, beginning at 10:30 PM ET in Portland. TNT will carry the game as part of its Thursday night coverage, and BetAnySports customers, who enjoy tremendous Asian casino action with three no-download options, can also benefit from reduced juice, Bitcoin casino deposits, and the chance to keep the action going, even after the opening tip, through the facilities of Live Betting Ultra.
Portland is only two games under the .500 plateau, after beating the Nuggets 122-113 two nights ago. And wasn’t it poetic justice that center Jusuf Nurkic, who had been discarded by the Nuggets and put into a trade with Portland, had the game of his life, with 33 points and 16 rebounds. Truth be told, Nurkic has been a critical edition to the Portland lineup, as he has averaged 15 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. He is an excellent complement to the super-efficient backcourt of Damien Lillard and CJ McCollum, who have combined to score 50 points per game.
Houston is comfortably in third place in the West, with very little chance that they will move up or move down in the standings. So of course, there is going to be at least some concern on the part of BetAnySports patrons over how much incentive they have coming into the Moda Center. And when you talk about that kind of speculation, it will center around James Harden, the do-everything guard who is a solid MVP candidate, and who currently leads the league in assists. That was unforeseen by a lot of NBA observers at the start of the campaign, but head coach Mike D’Antoni, who loves to play up-tempo, figured that he might as well put the ball into Harden’s hands at every opportunity and see what he could create. Part of Harden’s value is that he can get to the line, and in fact he does so with more frequency than any other player in the NBA. That has helped him climb to the #2 spot in scoring, right behind former teammate Russell Westbrook.
So far, the Rockets have held be decided edge in the two encounters between the squads; on November 17 they shot 48% from the field and had 17 offensive rebounds in a 126-109 rout at the Toyota Center in Houston. Then on November 27, Houston came up to the Pacific Northwest and handed the Blazers a 130-114 defeat, with 56% accuracy from the field and 17 triples. Harden exploded for 38 points in that game, to some extent mitigating the effect of Lillard and McCollum, who combined to score 55. But anyone who has been watching closely understands that this is a different Blazers team at the moment, as they have a 12-3 record in their last 15 games, covering seven of their last eight.
