NBA Betting -Lakers Go After Third Win in Row Over Rusty Pelicans

All of a sudden it looks like the Los Angeles Lakers have caught fire. Well, by Laker standards this season, winning two games in a row means they’re getting hot. On Tuesday night they will play host to the New Orleans Pelicans in NBA betting action that is set to begin at 10:35 PM ET at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

With their two-game winning streak, and by extension, three wins out of four games, the Lakers are now 21-39 straight up and 32-26 against the basketball pointspread. They are even with the Sacramento Kings for the worst record in the Western Conference. New Orleans is rapidly heading in that direction, with a straight up record of 23-37, with eight straight losses. Their record against the basketball odds has also plummeted, to 24-33-3.

In the NBA betting line posted by BetAnySports on this game, the Lakers are laying a small number:

Los Angeles Lakers -2.5

New Orleans Pelicans +2.5

Over 212 points -110

Under 212 points -110

There is no question that the injuries have caught up to the New Orleans Pelicans. Is very tough to sustain losing three starting players, especially when they are people who are going to into your scoring total appreciably, like small forward Ryan Anderson and point guard Jrue Holiday. Center Jason Smith has also been missing. That is too much of a burden for forward Anthony Davis to handle, as he gets very little support from a team that did not have a lot of depth to begin with. On Tuesday night the Pelicans conclude a stretch of 10 out of 12 games on the road, taking place over a period of three weeks. And hopefully home cooking will taste better than what they have been getting. Milwaukee in Denver await, so perhaps better days are on the horizon.

Still, they have lost eight straight games, with the latest the 96-89 defeat suffered at the hands of the Sacramento Kings, which happened despite the fact that Sacramento had twice as many turnovers as the Pelicans committed (18-9). Over the last 11 games this team has only been able to compile a record of 1-8-2 against the NBA betting odds. So there is no secret as to why BetAnySports customers have wanted to stay away from them.

Contrary to what is happening in New Orleans, the Lakers have maintained their status as a “go-with” proposition. And you would have to excuse the guys from Los Angeles if they don’t have any sympathy for the Pelicans’ fate. After all, almost everybody eligible in a Laker uniform has been out of action at one point or another this season, some more than most. For example, Kobe Bryant, who could have made an awful lot of difference this season, has a knee injury and may not play the rest of the season.

Some of the others include: Jordan Farmar (hamstring) and Xavier Henry (knee). But they are now both back, as is Pau Gasol, who has now scored 20 points or more in back-to-back games. New acquisitions like Kent Bazemore have injected some energy.

Someone will have to control Davis, who had 32 points, twelve rebounds and six blocks when these teams tangled on November 8, but if nothing else, the Lakers (who have gone “over” the total in NBA betting in six of their last eight games) are in a better position to do that than they have been in quite some time.
