NBA Playoffs Betting Report – April 21

The NBA Playoffs got underway this past weekend with four opening round matchups in both the Eastern and Western Conference. The Atlanta Hawks finished the regular season as the top seed in the East, but listed Cleveland as the odds-on favorite to win this conference. The Golden State Warriors went into the postseason as the top seed in the West and the clear favorite to go all the way to the NBA Finals from that side of the bracket.

If you have been betting on the early games, then going chalk almost across the board has been a profitable play. Through Monday night’s games, the favorite has won nine of the 10 games played straight-up with a 7-3 mark against the spread on closing NBA betting odds.

The Washington Wizards pulled-off the only SU upset so far as the No. 5 seed in the East with this past Saturday’s 93-86 victory over No. 4 Toronto as 5.5-point road underdogs. That series resumes on Tuesday night with Toronto favored by five points at home on current line.

The New Orleans Pelicans squeezed into the playoffs with a huge 108-103 victory against San Antonio as 5.5-point home underdogs in their final game of the regular season. They were able to cover as heavy 12.5-point road underdogs in their 106-99 loss to Golden State in Game 1 of that best-of-seven series, but the Pelicans came up short in Monday night’s Game 2 in a 97-87 loss as 8.5-point underdogs on the road.

The only other team to cover ATS in their series opener was the No. 8 Brooklyn Nets in a 99-92 to loss to Atlanta on Sunday as 11.5-point road underdogs on TopBET closing betting odds. Game 2 of that series is slated for Wednesday night with the Hawks listed as 9.5-point favorites at home.

The most shocking loss in this last weekend’s action was the No. 6 San Antonio Spurs falling to the No. 3 Los Angeles Clippers. The defending champion Spurs did close as slight 1.5-point road underdogs in the Game 1 pro basketball betting matchup, but they were pretty much blown-out in a stunning 107-92 loss. These two will square-off against one another this Wednesday night in Game 2 with the Clippers once again favored by 1.5-points at home.

When it comes to betting the total line in these playoff games, it has stayed UNDER in six of the first 10 games with one other contest ending as a PUSH. Top
