NBA Betting Preview – Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors

The NBA regular season closes-out the month of January and while Atlanta and Golden State continue to set the pace at the top of the standings in each conference, two preseason favorites to win both the East and the West are starting to make a move back into contention.

The Hawks have taken the NBA by storm ever since late December and they will try and extend their current straight-up winning streak to 17 games this Wednesday night as heavy 14-point home favorites against Brooklyn on 5Dimes’ NBA betting odds. Atlanta has a comfortable 6.5-game lead over Washington in the Eastern Conference and they have been a virtual money machine during this run with a 14-2 record against the spread.

Golden State is coming off a 113-111 loss to Chicago this past Tuesday night after closing as an 11.5-point home favorite. It was just the Warriors’ second SU loss in their last 15 games and during this run they have gone 10-4-1 ATS. They now hold a four-game lead over Memphis in the West with an overall record of 36-7 SU while going 28-14-1 ATS. Next up for Golden State is a road game against Utah this Friday night.

The first of the two preseason favorites making a move is the Cleveland Cavaliers with a SU seven-game winning streak. This past Tuesday they beat Detroit 103-95 as 8.5-point favorites on the road. It was the first time Cleveland failed to cover during this winning streak. It is now 26-20 SU (20-26 ATS) heading into Wednesday night’s home game against Portland. The Cavs have been opened by 5Dimes as six-point favorites for that contest.

The other team making a move is the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. They have been flying well under the radar in the West all season long, but after posting 10 SU victories in their last 13 games, the Spurs are sitting in seventh place in the standings with a SU record of 29-17. They have gone 4-2-1 ATS in their last seven outings, but on the year they are still a costly 21-23-2 ATS. The NBA basketball betting total has stayed UNDER in five of their last eight games.

A few other hot teams ATS include Boston in the East, which has covered in its last five games and New Orleans in the West after covering in five of its last six outings. Top
