NBA Betting Odds – Dragic is a Key Man as Suns Have Last Gasp vs. Grizz

Zach Randolph MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES 2013

The Phoenix Suns have had a great season, and after all of the triumph, the overachievement, and yes, a little bit of heartache, it all comes down to one game for them, at least for the right to continue on and have hope of making it to the playoffs. On Monday night the Suns play host to the Memphis Grizzlies in NBA betting action that is slated to get underway at 10:05 PM ET at the US Airways Center.

What makes this game so critical is that the Suns trail Memphis by only a single game in the West standings. So they have to win to have even any hope of continuing on as a contender. But beyond that, they will need help from an unlikely place – the Dallas Mavericks, who have their own date with the Grizzlies on Wednesday night, and by that time may actually be aiming for the number six spot in the Western Conference playoff order.

In the NBA betting odds that have been placed on this game at BetAnySports, the Suns are favored at home:

Under 194 points -110

One of the big questions surrounding this game may be Phoenix guard Goran Dragic, and it is not necessarily the availability to the team’s leading scorer that is in doubt, because we are relatively certain he’ll play, but how effective he will be if he does. Dragic had to sit down again the San Antonio Spurs a couple of games ago, even by his own admission, and he even complained about how bad his sprained ankle looked. He came back for the team two nights ago against Dallas, but he was not at his sharpest, as he shot just 6-for-18.

BetAnySports customers who have followed either of these teams know that Memphis has won all three games played between them, and that is what has given the Grizzlies the tie-breaker advantage. So in effect, Memphis is really up a couple of games. One of the bigger challenges for Phoenix is how to deal with Mike Conley, the slick Memphis point guard who has averaged 20 points against them. And his play has triggered an offense that has shot 50% against Jeff Hornacek’s defensive schemes.

Still, you have to respect a team like Phoenix, which is the best in the NBA when it comes to beating the NBA betting odds, with a 51-28-1 ledger. That can’t be ignored, because it is indicative of the fact that over the long haul of an NBA season, they have continued to rise above expectations. And it is that kind of attitude that they hope is going to bring them the one victory they need to maintain some hope for at least another couple of days.
